We took our first family vacation to South Padre Island! And oh did we have a blast!
On our way!
The girls did so well during the drive...we were so surprised!
We made it to San Antonio and stopped there for the night. So, of course, we had to check out the river walk and ride the boats.
We made it to Padre the next afternoon! Finally! That morning we had breakfast at Cracker Barrel, before we started driving. Taylor had a pancake...and it ended up in her lap after driving about an hour...thankfully she had a blanket in her lap. Poor baby! So that delayed us a little bit, cleaning everything up. But we did finally get to the beach!
The girls loved playing in the hotel room.
After dinner, we went down to see the ocean for the first time! Taylor ran down screaming "the ocean!"
Avery is trying to figure out what this stuff is.
"This is sooo fun!" She always has to dance!
The next 2 days were spent at the beach.
These girls loved playing in the sand! Avery rarely put down her bucket and shovel. They were in heaven!
Taylor did get a little brave and let Daddy take her out in the water...for just a little bit.
I love this girl!
Flying a kite!
This girl is on a mission!
Funny story about these birds...they like to be fed. Well, one time when probably about 30 were around (because somebody was eating chips), Taylor decided she needed to scare them away. So she start running at them yelling "roar!" And they would fly away. She said, "They can't get our food!" She ran at every single one until they had all flown away. It was hysterical! I was crying from laughing so hard! She is so timid at times, but not this time! Even Avery joined in roaring at the birds!
Another funny story about the birds...they pooped 2 times on Daddy. I think he deserved it...after making fun of Momma for getting out from under them when a ton were hovering above us. :)
Avery was pretty brave and went to check out the waves.
Taylor liked to get water to "melt" our sandcastles.
Our beach beauties!
Family picture. (See those 3 girls in the background? Poor girls screamed several times when the birds flew over them when Taylor was roaring at them.)
She had so much fun running around on the beach.
I love this girl too!
Daddy and Taylor's sand castle!
Can you see the sunscreen caked on her?! I was so afraid she was going to get burned.
We went out for pizza our last night in Padre. This was Avery's first pizza...needless to say, she loved it!
Headed back home! The girls loved their slinkies.
And just when we had gotten off the island, guess what...more throw up. This time it was Avery, and this time there was a lot! All over her carseat. So the whole way home, she smelled and so did her carseat. I mean, we cleaned it up the best we could, but there was a lot! Poor Avery! So from now on...no more milk or pancakes during road trips for these girls.
We did make it home in 1 day. We had a blast at the beach. We had a lot of fun and made a lot of memories. We were able to give the girls a new experience. We got to enjoy God's beauty. It was a great vacation. But we were glad to be home. Home sweet home.
